We must never take the Gospels for granted or cease to wonder at the majesty of the story they tell us. It is a story “…too wonderful for us, too high, beyond our grasp.” and yet, thanks to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus it is simply the story of Love.

Maybe a question for all of us in this Easter Season could be: In what or in whom do I recognise the Risen Lord in our world? What is it I see or hear that alerts me to the presence of the Risen Lord in our midst? This is, maybe, a question for us to ponder as we move towards Pentecost.

If we truly hear the words of Jesus; that he “came that we might have life, and have it to the full.” and that he “…does not call us servants, but friends…” then we will see the challenge to ‘sin no more’ as the invitation to ‘life’ and ‘friendship’ and to what God knows is ‘true happiness’.
